Spring—and the Rodeo--have arrived in Houston.

Houstonians celebrate (nay, treasure) the few days of spring before the devilish humidity and heat of the summer.

Today was exquisite.  Seventy degrees.  Top down weather.  Though I only live fifteen minutes from work these days, with Spring in the air, I drop top and cruise home with the wind in my hair.  I have a hot little convertible with a powerful in-line six cylinder engine and a standard transmission.  Shift those gears!  His name is Z3PO.

But today was different.  I received galleys on my new erotic novella Celestial Sin from The Wild Rose Press.  I printed the story, line-edited it (I am a Legal Assistant and proofread contracts among other things for a living).  I know my editor must get annoyed with me.  I read the manuscript on Friday, but today I found several occasions of abuse of some three words.    Since it is erotica, the word clenched does not need to be used with regard to the stomach.  There’s enough clenching  going on elsewhere.

As always, I have totally strayed from the subject.  Spring.  Friday, I wore a fuchsia skirt, matching shell and white jacket with white shoes to work.  Now, I know that white shoes aren’t supposed to be worn until Spring.  But it felt like Spring, and I didn’t think that old adage still held true.  I mean, after all, this is the twenty-first century.

Boy was I wrong.

This is the twenty-first century in Texas.  Toto, I’m not in Miami anymore.
My attorneys are both women.  One of them and I are also friends.  She looked at me and laughed, especially the shoes!  She said, “It isn’t spring yet.”  I grinned and replied, “Spring busted out all over me.”
To console myself for the fashion faux pas, that afternoon, I dropped top and cruised home with my right white shoe a little too heavy on the gas pedal.  I think I’m going to go to a podiatrist and have more lead added to that foot.

So that I might appear erudite (I’ve got a couple more twenty-five cent words in my pocket if you like this one), I shall quote Shakespeare:

“O, how this spring of love resembleth
The uncertain glory of an April day;
Which now shows all the beauty of the sun,
And by and by a cloud takes away.”
The Two Gentlemen of Verona (I, iii, 84-87)

Enjoy your spring and if you find a little time for a delicious, warm bath, a glass of wine, a scented candle and a hot read, try my Hot Spanish Nights Visit my blog for a free erotic read and guest bloggers galore.

Thanks for tuning in!  And if you haven’t seen The King’s Speech, treat yourself to a sometimes funny, sometimes poignant film.  It’s the story of King George VI (Elizabeth II’s father) and his trials after his brother Edward VIII abdicated the throne to marry the woman he loved—a fascinating story in its own right.

Bianca lives in Texas with her baby grand piano and is very fond of her snazzy little convertible.  She has two sons, one of whom lives in England, the other in Texas.  She still believes in the power of love—and the power of lust—and enjoys delving into the soul of both the L-Words, bringing to life exciting men and the hot women who love them.

As a photographer I love Spring because there is so much out there for me to focus on however, I am a Fall person.

I am so on your side about the white shoes when you feel Spring has finally sprung. That and the sandals!

I agree with your recommendation of The King's Speech! Great story and a wonderful performance by hottie Colin Firth.

The King's Speech is on my Netflix queue...can't wait to see it. I'm so glad CF won the Oscar for his performance.

LOL Bianca! I don't think there is anything wrong with willing Spring to arrive sooner. Next time just tell the ladies you are wearing "winter white" and it will shut them up. ;-)

Love all of the spring flowers.

Lol Bianca! It's really not a fashion faux paus anymore to wear white before summer as there is now a "winter" white that fashion guru's have adopted! As for the nice temps, it's finally nice where I am too and it is so gorgeous that being in the office was really hard! Lol on the comment about your editor, I'm sure she really doesn't mind that you are thorough and re-check your manuscripts- after all they represent you the writer and you only get one chance to impress a new reader! I loved "The King's Speech", it was a really well acted and fascinating movie.

I guess I'm a certified redneck, lol. I don't care what fashion is in or what season it is. I always wear what I want to.

Thanks all for the winter white reassurances! Wish I had thought of it at the time. The only thing that came to mind was this blog and Spring Bustin' Out All Over.

I totally lost my mind the other day and bought a coronation cup from Edward VIII's coronation (which never happened since he abdicated). It is beautiful though and from 1936.

Forget colors...the minute its warm enough, I break the flip-flops out and LIVE in them.

Plus then I have the excuse to get pedi's.

Bianca Swan said...

Vitch, the joys of living in Florida! Had my hair done today. Pedi would be a good idea for those white shoes! ha ha

Since I live in Louisiana, I know what you are talking about. Spring is gorgeous, but when you get close to summer, I hide inside with my books, iced teas, and the air conditioner!!

I really enjoyed your post

Spring has arrived for me over here in the UK, though the nights are still cold and technically spring is not officially here until after easter.
Guess I made my own little fashion faux pas today as I went out for lunch wearing white trousers along with a lilac top and shoes, but who cares?
I feel "springy" so if anyone don't like it, well it's their problem not mine.
You enjoy your spring hun, drop the top, feel the wind in your hair....and keep the white shoes on.

Hey! Spring is already here, officially at least. Didn't it start well over a week ago? (Even if it did snow in Boston.)

I enjoyed Hot Spanish Nights and am looking forward to Celestial Sin, regardless of where the clenching is going on. :)

Spring won't come to Nebraska for 3 more's a brief period between summer and winter... I envy you being in Houston. Hot Spanish Nights was just that...HOT! I had to put my reader in the deep freeze when I finished it. Don't expect Celestial Sin to be any different!

It's definitely Spring here in sunny SC. And, regarding the King's Speech, it was a fabulous film.

I'm ready for SIN, Bianca, and I know this next book will be perfect! I'd skip the top down with all the pollen here, but I do love the flowers and trees blooming. Enjoy your little sports car!

White can be worn year round! I said so!

Hi Bianca, I can see you in your convertible enjoying the wind. Here in Florida it's summer and the snowbirds are swimming in the ocean, although I haven't tried it yet.

April 8 is MY release day with Rx in Russian and April 13 my spring day on LASRR.

Interesting post. I love spring, even though I'm allergic to it, and The King's Speech was a wonderful movie.

Bianca, darling, when I think of you, I envision you barefoot in the soft grass anyway.

Lovely post! My favorite part of the season is sitting in my newly-landscaped backyard and watching the finches and hummingbirds flit around.

Your Spring/Summers sound like what we have. Not nearly enough Spring and whole lot of hot/humid Summer and I bet you get shorted in the Fall as well. We haven't had the opportunity to see The King's Speech but it is on our must see list!

Spring in Texas must be perfect, but I am definitely going to South America. I want to go to a country where people are tanned and warm because of their weather. i´ve just booked one of those apartments in Buenos Aires and that is where I am heading. You should try, people are on fire there!

Where I live we don't get much spring.:( It goes from winter to summer here in AZ.
