I didn’t really take any formal, extended vacation this summer. I just went to New York for a few days, visited some family and friends, did a little shopping. Nothing too outrageous or exotic or even all that relaxing.
Summer is my absolute favorite season and there are so many ways to enjoy the warm weather. A day at the beach with a good book and a large, frozen cocktail is always a good life choice, but if I could, I would go on a fabulous European holiday extravaganza.
I would start off in Paris for breakfast at a sidewalk café: croissants and beignets and mimosas. Then it would be off to Monaco for some light gambling and midmorning cocktails. I’d need to do some shopping in Milan before heading off to Tuscany for a multicourse, wine-paired lunch. It would be nice to take a leisurely stroll through the Goya Museum in Madrid while all that digested. I could arrive then in London just in time for afternoon tea and scones and cucumber sandwiches. Brussels would beckon for dessert and the finest chocolate in the world, and then off to Munich for a beer or two because traveling is thirsty work. Copenhagen would be the next stop for dinner at Noma. And then I would end the evening in style in Vienna with a little opera and a lot of coffee.
With Hugh Jackman by my side the entire time of course.
What’s your dream summer vacation?
