Halloween Blogfest Megan Slayer

Dressing Up With Megan Slayer

Do you like to role-play? Like to play those games online where you’re a goblin or a warrior? My favorite holiday is Halloween because I can dress up and be whoever I want to. It’s great. No one can say, you can’t look like that or that’s too outrageous. Why? Because everyone is dressed up!

I wrote a story where one of the characters assumes a persona when he’s on stage. He wears garish makeup and spikes his hair. But he’s very tame in real life. (Check out Here Without You to learn more.) I like this character because he gets to play with both sides of his personality. He doesn’t lie about who he is, he just happens to look different sometimes.

I so want to be him. I want to be able to step into a personality and hit the stage. Might help to be a rock star, but everyone has to have a dream. Grin. But since I can’t, I’ll have fun on Halloween!

Who am I going to dress up as? Hmm. Two years ago I rocked the vampire look. DH even told me I had great base makeup. Would’ve been good except the base makeup he referred to was my skin! Oh well. Last year I was a wicked faery with giant blue wings. That was fun until I poked people with the wings. They didn’t appreciate that too much. A few years ago I dressed up as a guy. I drew in a thick handlebar mustache and everything. The only issue there was the eyeliner didn’t wash all the way off and I had to explain the next day why I looked like I needed to shave.

So this year...hmm...I’m not big on things attached to my face, so masks are out. I’ve got devil horns, but those don’t really work because no one would believe I was dressed up. Hey, I rock a mean set of devil horns on an everyday basis. I could be a princess, but that’s another one of those where no one would believe me. Gosh. I don’t know what I’ll be this year.

Anyone got any ideas? I’m open for suggestions. In fact, if you leave a suggestion, along with your name and email, you’re in the hat for a $5 GC to Changeling Press. You just might help me out after all. And in case you’re looking for a good read, here’s a little about my Glow series book, Here Without You, available now from Changeling Press:

Love doesn't always happen according to plan.

Some guys have all the luck and some guys love the pain. Slash Gunderson knows that feeling well. His place behind the drums for Glow is a dream come true. Can he accept his need for kink and the man who makes his heart beat?

Hiram Moline loves his job as the head of security for Glow. He's also in love with Slash. There's one major glitch -- someone has been sending Slash threatening letters. Hiram's not about to let anything happen to Slash. Can he convince Slash they've got something strong or will the stalker get the upper hand? About the Author:
When she's not writing the stories in her head, Megan Slayer can be found luxuriating in her hot tub with her two vampire Cabana boys, Luke and Jeremy. She has the tendency to run a tad too far with her muse, so she has to hide in the head of her alter ego, but the boys don't seem to mind.

When she’s not obsessing over her whip collection, she can be found picking up her kidlet from school. She enjoys writing in all genres, but writing about men in love suits her fancy best.

Currently hanging out every Wednesday and Friday at the Menagerie Authors site, hunting Hotties for the Saturday posts, and working on the next great story brewing in her head!

The cabana boys are willing to serve, unless she needs them. She always need them. So be nice to Javier or he will bite--on command.

She also masquerades under the name Wendi Zwaduk and is published through Changeling Press, Liquid Silver Books, and Total-E-Bound Publishing.

I ended up donning a tiara and going as a princess. Might as well. plus the tiara was super inexpensive. Wore a dress I'd worn for a wedding with it. :-) Might have to go zombie princess next year. Recycle!

If the contest is still going... Please count me in!

Heh, as for costume, how a bout a cat girl/boy. like... buy cat ears and tail and dress normally, but be a cat-person. LOL.. I did that this year. See, I'm into anime and manga and in that there are MANY stories that enter around catboys/girls such as in my FAVORITE manga LOVELESS by Yun Kouga. This year for halloween I was exactly that. A Cat boy. haha... yayoi-san(as side chara) is very feminine and would explain my long (black)hair so I just went as him. LOL... Next year. I plan to do Yuiko. YEAH for pink wigs!! lol...

I'll have to keep that in mind. I've got the ears and tail. And I love playing with regular makeup. Not big on painting my face, but I'm game to try some anime stuff. :-) Thanks!
