Anniversary Blog Fest: Leslie Lee Sanders

Summer Vacation … to a Faraway Land
The best summer vacations I like to take are those to lands far, far away. I enjoy travelling back to 1850 trapped in the body of a southern belle, while a couple of brothers fight for my affections as Elise Davis did in Destiny for Three.

Or travel to a post-apocalyptic world to be an occupant in a silo where those who are banished to the toxic hell beyond still cleans the lenses to the only view of the outside like Sheriff Holston in Wool.

Where is the best place to go when you have children to tend to, work to do, no money and hate to pack? Pick a book! That's what makes reading so much fun and addictive. This is what turns us into bookworms and book hoarders … the amazing vacations we take when we read.

We get to meet people from all walks of life. We're involved in the most thrilling love affairs. We encounter strange and exciting situations. We find ourselves in the most horrifying and unpredictable circumstances. And when it's all over, we close one book and open another.

Life could never get dull or be mundane in a book! Even if you didn't enjoy one journey, you can easily take a detour and explore another mysterious world with just a flip of a page.

So when everyone's talking about going camping or to the beach house this summer, grab a book and a cup of sweet iced tea and take a trip to a faraway land.

I so agree...the best way to see the world is through the pages of a book.
